What is a Tag?

A tag is a type of node that defines a group of fields. When a node is tagged, the fields from the tag are copied to tagged node and a relationship between the node tagged and the tag is created. Tags have a flexible relationship with nodes, the fields in a node that are copied from a tag can be edited or deleted without impacting the tag at all. If a field from a tag is deleted, this does not effect any of the existing nodes that have a relationship with the tag. If a new field is added to a tag, this will add the field to every node with a relationship to the tag.

Types of Tags

There are two types of Tags, user defined tags which are used in asset modeling and have no required fields, and view configuration tags which have required and predefined fields.

Tag Operations

Create a New Tag

Users can create user defined tags in the asset model section of Frame. To create a tag, simply type in a new tag name next to a node and a tag will be automatically created.

Add/Remove a Tag From a Node

To add a tag to a node, type the tag name to the right of a node and use the autocomplete to select the desired tag. Any fields associated with the selected tag will be copied to the tagged node.

To remove a tag from a node, hover over the tag to the right of a node and click the x to remove the tag from the node. The relationship between the node and the tag will be removed, however no fields will be deleted from the node as a result of removing the tag.

Delete a Tag

To delete a tag, navigate to tag managment and click the three stacked dots next to the tag and select delete. When a tag is deleted, the relationship to all of the associated nodes is deleted as well. Any fields that were copied to the nodes previously are not impacted by deleting a tag.

Optional Fields

Tag nodes by default only contain the required fields for the component, however in the tag management and view configuration an "Add Optional Field" button allows for additional fields to be added and customized.
